Founded in 1953, Mailing Services, Inc. is one of the most experienced direct marketing firms in the country. The founder, Jim Henshaw, was working for the Railway Mail Service when World War II erupted and he joined the Seabees. After the war, Jim wanted to rest, but the Railway Mail Service was shorthanded, and pleaded for his return. After a few years, he began working for the United States Post Office Department. Jim's experiences in the Post Office were the impetus he needed to establish his own business, and in 1953, he opened Mailing Services with a $120.00 investment.

In 1992, with 30 years in the printing and paper manufacturing industries, John Mayfield purchased Mailing Services. He has since retired, but his son, Jack Mayfield, is the current president and has been with the company for 15 years.

Both John and Jack understood that for the company to succeed, it would be necessary to develop a strong and diversely talented management staff. With the staff in place, Mailing Services has forged ahead of its competition by focusing simultaneously on two areas: productivity and quality of service. Mailing Services instituted innovative employee incentive programs, a comprehensive quality assurance program, and increased standards of performance at every level of the organization.

Mailing Services’ core business has been in helping clients develop direct marketing campaigns to achieve their marketing goals. By taking a consultative approach, Mailing Services supports its customers through the planning and strategy stages, and can assist with layout and design, ensuring that pieces adhere to postal regulations. Mailing Services has been providing innovative and quality-conscious database marketing, direct mail, and fulfillment services to local, regional and national companies for almost 60 years. Under the current ownership, Mailing Services maintains its strength and viability in the marketplace by providing a full range of services designed to consistently meet the needs of a large and diverse customer base.
